The idea behind everything

Funkbadge is a small device that looks like an mp3-player.

It's an easy way to exchange messages, just like the Short Message System (SMS).

But unlike the GSM-network, this network doesn't need any relay and is not based on stationary devices.
The network is free to everyone who knows the standarts and is able to build a thing, that can talk it.

The message is sent by one badge and then transmitted from one badge to the other until it reaches its destination. Just like a mesh-Network.
So each device acts as a kind of relay.

At the moment, the planed Interface for the network is a 2.4 GHz ZigBee based system.
The badges identify themselves only by their DeviceID, which can be defined to a certain username. The DeviceID is automatically generated at startup, so that the Badges can't be used as tracking devices and keep your personal freedom.


The functions of funkbadge will be :

- Displaying scroll-text messages and little graphics
- Sending , recieving and saving messages
- Routing messages
- Playing MP3-files
- ...
